So it’s my good friend’s birthday. We have become good friends for like 3 weeks now but he is my new neighbor as well as my new classmate. He helped me soooo much during the move ins and everything and tonight is his birthday.
I wanted to get him something very classy and good but I don’t drink myself, and never been around people who drink sooo my information on alcohol is 0.
He drinks beer and he likes it but I wanted to get him some good wine, unless you can tell me of something more classy and appropriate. He is turning 26.
Please help me pick a classy, cool, kind, and nice drink I can get my friend which is also appropriate for a girl to give to a new guy friend. I really know nothing about the culture of giving alcohol as a birthday present… but that’s what he asked for
I can go up to 0.00
Thanks

Planning a dinner party and have huge wine selection – help. Looking ideally to spend roughly 30GBP a bottle – no more. I know I could go for the Amarone or Barollo – but little too pricey. Any suggestions?

I need a type of sweet tasting wine that looks like light liquor/spirits. Anything that has the same color is good, but tint/brightness compared to real liquor dosent matter.

I want to buy a gift of wine for someone who is Jewish. I read an article on wine selection that said that Jews drink Kosher wine even on social occasions. I believe this person belongs to a reform rather than conservative congregation. Must the wine be kosher? Thanks in advance for your answers.

I am putting on a rehersal dinner for just over 50 guests and will be supplying the beer and wine for the evening. From what I have gathered, one bottle of wine for every 2 people seems to be the general consensus for what to keep on hand. What types of wine should I provide? Of the 25-30 bottles, should half be white and the other half red? One type of white and one type of red?
What about beer? How much should I provide? How large of a selection?
Thank you in advance for you help.
As far as the pairing of wine or beer to the menu, I am waiting on the chef to finish creating the menu before asking what she feels would be a good compliment to the dishes. Idealy I would buy wines that compliment the dishes being served. However I am still stuck with the question of how much wine to bring. There is an open bar at the rehersal and my better half has already mentioned that hung over people at the wedding may not be "in my best interest."
I also do not mind going over in the wine department, they keep well and we will undoubtably work our way through them in the following year.
Are kegs at a rehearsal dinner tacky?
Side note, the dinner is at an art gallery. I dont know if this should warrant a change in any suggestions or not… but…
