I need help with Wine selection?

So it’s my good friend’s birthday. We have become good friends for like 3 weeks now but he is my new neighbor as well as my new classmate. He helped me soooo much during the move ins and everything and tonight is his birthday.

I wanted to get him something very classy and good but I don’t drink myself, and never been around people who drink sooo my information on alcohol is 0.
He drinks beer and he likes it but I wanted to get him some good wine, unless you can tell me of something more classy and appropriate. He is turning 26.

Please help me pick a classy, cool, kind, and nice drink I can get my friend which is also appropriate for a girl to give to a new guy friend. I really know nothing about the culture of giving alcohol as a birthday present… but that’s what he asked for :D

I can go up to 0.00

Thanks

Planning a dinner party and have huge wine selection – help. Looking ideally to spend roughly 30GBP a bottle – no more. I know I could go for the Amarone or Barollo – but little too pricey. Any suggestions?

I want to buy a gift of wine for someone who is Jewish. I read an article on wine selection that said that Jews drink Kosher wine even on social occasions. I believe this person belongs to a reform rather than conservative congregation. Must the wine be kosher? Thanks in advance for your answers.

I am a docent (volunteer teacher) at our Zoo. One of the docents wants to do a special project for an Eco-Planet day in August. She is making usable items (not crafty kids things) out of recyclable items that would otherwise just sit in a landfill – hence the need for non-biodegradable items. She is collecting old clothing, woolen items, glass, tin, plastic, anything she can find and trying to make usable items out of them. They are salvaging wool from old wool sweaters, blankets, etc. She is using dryer lint also. I’ve been saving dog fur for her and she is going to use it. I have some dog fur gloves that someone brought me from Alaska where this lady has a whole business making scarves, gloves, etc. from her huskies fur.

So far she has made tote bags and baskets out of newspapers and plastic bags. I swear you would not know what they were made out of unless you asked her. Lamps out of wine bottles. Change purses out of Whisker Lickins cat treat bags. Grocery store bags (we can buy them here in the grocery stores and you bring them back with you for your groceries over using plastic bags) made from the animal feed bags – monkey chow, etc.

She will have 50 tables set up all over the zoo with the raw material, the half finished product and then the finished one set up for the adults to see. Such as paper making, glass tumbling….

Any workable ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

How do you know which wine to use for cooking?

For someone who doesn’t drink AND is a beginner’s cook, the wine selection at the grocery store is endless….help!!!!
